Aestec Services attended a special Teladoc Showcase at Gladstone Hospital, where the recently introduced system was demonstrated. The technology connects our local hospital with specialists who can provide vital support during critical moments.

The showcase provided valuable insights into patient experiences and the many benefits this innovation is bringing to both Gladstone Hospital and the wider Central Queensland community.

A milestone for regional healthcare

The Teladoc system enables doctors and specialists to connect virtually in real time, meaning local patients can receive advanced care without needing to travel long distances. This is particularly vital in critical or time-sensitive situations, where immediate access to specialist advice can save lives.
Already, the technology has supported regional surgeons during complex operations by allowing expert specialists in Brisbane to “dial in” and provide step-by-step guidance. For patients and their families, this means access to high-level care closer to home, fewer hospital transfers, and faster treatment when it matters most.

Saving Lives

CQ Health recently shared an incredible story that shows just how powerful this technology can be. When a regional patient suffered life-threatening bleeding on the brain, surgeons at Rockhampton Hospital were able to connect instantly with a neurosurgeon in Brisbane through the Teladoc system, who guided them through the procedure in real time.

The Rockhampton surgical team had not previously performed this type of operation, but with Teladoc, they were able to carry it out successfully with remote specialist support.

Doctors later confirmed that the patient would not have survived the transfer to Brisbane, but with Teladoc, the operation could be performed immediately in Rockhampton, ultimately saving the patient’s life.

Partnership with CQShines

We are incredibly proud to have played a part in making this lifesaving technology available in Gladstone. Through our partnership with CQShines Hospital Foundation, Aestec Services was the presenting partner of the CQShines Charity Gala to assist in raising funds for this surgical teladoc equipment.

That evening, our community came together to make a difference, and the results are now being realised in our local hospital. Thanks to the efforts of CQShines, local supporters, and our fellow supporters, Gladstone became the first public hospital in Australia to receive this groundbreaking surgical teladoc system.

The introduction of the teladoc system at Gladstone Hospital represents a significant step forward for regional healthcare. We are very proud to have supported this initiative, which is improving access to specialist care, enhancing patient outcomes, and helping save lives.
